INTRODUCTION:

                                  Language is the basic tool for communication. It is a system of communicating with other people .for expressing an idea,  using  sounds, symbols  and words in expressing it.  This  language is used in many ways through oral and written.

                My professor also teach   some important  points in this subject, and also show some slides to understand concept easily.  Some  of the slides i also presented here about the language and society.

 

DEFINITION OF LANGUAGE:

“ Set of sentences,each finite in length,and constructed out of a finite set of element”

                                                                                                       -Noam Chomsky.

Characteristics:

·   Language is Arbitrary

·   Language is social and cultural

·   Language is symbolic

·   Language is systematic

·   Language is vocal

·   Language is having duality.

 FUNCTIONS OF LANGUAGE:

·         Means of communication

·         Transmission of culture.

·         Means of thought

·         Unites people

·         Used to express our ideas.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SCHOOL LANGUAGE AND HOME LANGUAGE:

IMPORTANCE OF FIRST LANGUAGE:

                                                                             A Child get strong foundation in first language helps in the learning of second language.It improves self confident.
